Last night we experienced our first ER trip as parents. After playing in the backyard for a few hours we came in for bath time. I started the water and left the bathroom. Wren usually waits for one of us to help her climb in with a 1-2-3 but a loud crash and crying led me to find Wren in the tub with all of her bath toys. I got her up as Jay came in just in time for us to both see blood on Wren's chest but with no obvious origin. Not the chest, not the mouth. A good sized gash under her chin was the source. We got her out and laid her down to assess the wound. A very quick look told us she needed to be seen for possible stitches. Jay took her to the ER while I stayed home with a sleeping baby Nora.
It was a busy night in the ER and after 3 hours Wren was seen by the doctor and had her chin glued. No tears! They got home about 11 pm (all this on top of a no nap day!) and Wren was excited to show me the stack of stickers she was given for her bravery and patience!
Needless to say Wren was tired this morning but she went to daycare like a champ and let everyone know not to touch her owie or get it wet!
We are amazed by our brave girl!
Waiting patiently to be seen!
Allowing the topical pain medicine to kick in.
Brave girl! Glad they were able to glue rather than stitch. Sal had stitches on his eyelid/brow last year and it was an experience that I'd love to never have again. Hope she heals quickly.
