Nora - 11 weeks!

Time has gotten away from me so this post is a catch up of weeks 9-11!  In the past few weeks our littlest lady turned 2 months old!  As of Nora's 2 month checkup she is 22.75" tall (60%), weighs 12 pounds, 10 ounces (78%), and her head is 38.4 cm (52%).  She is very healthy!  She received 3 shots and an oral vaccination as well.  She was pretty unhappy about the shots but had no ill effects later in the day.
In her 9th week I started back to work. It was a very rough week!  Even though I am only away 3 days each week at this time it's hard to be away from my gal.  Jay and Nora had a very bumpy transition into daddy daycare with Nora mostly refusing a bottle her first 3 days.  She drank 3 ounces her first day, 4 the second, and on the third day she had consumed less than 1 ounce by 2:30 pm so I came home early.  The poor girl spent her days crying and Nora is not much of a crier.  I can imagine it was enough to drive someone insane but Jay stuck with it - such an awesome daddy! As I've mentioned before, Nora hasn't been interested in a pacifier, so by the third day she realized that sucking her thumb would be soothing. I'm glad she found something as I spend 9 hours away from her on my work days.  By that first weekend we were feeling pretty desperate and tried 4 additional types of bottles and even tried scalding my milk to test if it was a taste issue.  The following Tuesday Jay took a new approach and tried one more type of bottle and the two of them had a great day!  It hasn't been perfect, but now after 3 weeks they seem to be doing quite well.  Nora even went with Jay to his work for about 5 hours this past week and she was a very good girl (well, except for the meltdown she had while they tried to sit through a thesis defense.  Maybe she was bored...?)
In other news, Nora is now batting at her toys, bathing without the infant sling (she holds her head up amazingly well!), smiling up a storm, cooing (it sounds like she says "ok"!), and sleeping like a champ (she has had 2 stretches of 7 hours, most nights starts with at least 5 hours of sleep, and goes right back to sleep after a middle-of-the-night waking).  When Nora is tired she fusses a little; Lay her down and she will get herself to sleep by sucking her thumb.  It is amazing to lay down a sleepy but awake baby and leave the room knowing she will be asleep on her own soon - amazing!
Nora has seen quite a few family members in recent weeks.  Opa visited and met Nora for the first time.  She also met her Aunt Liz, Uncle John and cousins Karsyn and Landon who visited from Las Vegas.
Nora loves watching her big sister play and Wren has become much sweeter with Nora - though some hugs still seem akin to a sleeper hold! We are having a lot of fun with how interactive Nora is becoming!
